Non Graded Classes
Contemporary Dance introduces the dancer to techniques created by pioneers such as Cunningham, Graham and Limon. It involves the strong use of breath, contraction and release and fall and rebound. The technique requires a strong technical ability as well as the use of expression, it strives to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements.
For a dancer it is very important that they are flexible and strong. These classes will teach the professional curriculum of Acrobatic Dance and will enhance any dance performances. There are 12 levels with 28 skills in each level to develop all areas of acro dance (including flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering and tumbling) to complement all disciplines.
Probably the most important class for any child who takes Ballet, Modern, Contemporary and Acro. These classes are an intense strengthening and stretching class, the more you do a week the better control you will have in your steps for each genre. We have subject specific classes and we encourage anyone who wishes to take an exam to attend the classes.
