Ballet is the foundation to all dance styles. Our classes are taught by an experienced ballet teacher who is very passionate about the art. Graded examinations in IDTA Ballet can be obtained from Primary upwards, giving an excellent grounding for any dance style. Ballet strengthens the muscles, gives poise and control as well as musicality and expressive movement.
Tap and Modern
Examinations for ISTD start at Primary and move up the grades 1-6. Professional qualifications can then be taken
in Intermediate, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2. Examinations for IDTA will be medals through to trophies, the
emphasis on this being performance based examinations. If a student wishes to gain teaching qualifications or
audition for professional work, this should be brought to the teachers attention as soon as a possible to ensure
the correct careers advice and guidance is given.
Pre-School Tap and Ballet from 2½ to 4 yrs and Preparatory Tap and Ballet 4-5yrs
These classes introduce the children to a structured class environment. From the age of 2½ the children are taught
tap and ballet through lessons designed to promote their physical fitness, coordination and early learning skills.
These children have the opportunity to take IDTA Rosettes, which are also an introduction to the
examination process.
Street Dance
Street dance 11yrs+. Various street dance styles will be taught
including hip hop, popping and locking. The classes are taught by a
professional dancer who has extensive experience in the street dance
world. Classes for younger students will be available on request and
subject to interest. Cheer Leading from 6yrs
Dance Education Centre is the Home of the Weybridge Cheerfoxes. Cheer leading is a great way to keep fit and teaching children how to work as a team. Classes consist of dance, cheers, chants, basic gymnastic moves and basic stunts. IDTA examinations are available and we also perform at various events in Weybridge and surrounding area.
